txtWeb July Newsletter

Hi Developer,

This month we went LIVE with IDEA on short code which is 51115. This opens up many avenues for those associated with txtWeb, especially for you! Your contribution is vital to txtWeb, and this move is BIG news for you in many ways. Let’s give you the updates on the platform for this month & also what txtWeb on short code means for you. We are super excited to share this huge milestone with you…

Platform Updates

  • Ask for Better Keyword: Ajit Joseph recently created a new app "@trnslt" which translates not just words but complex sentences from English to several Indian languages. That sounds like a useful app! However what this great app lacked was a great keyword. txtWeb identified the potential of this app and made "@translate" keyword available to Ajit, so that he could have a more intuitive keyword! Marketing your apps & making it user-friendly is as important as having a great app. Have an app, but do not have a keyword you desire?? Write to us and we will check if the keyword you need is an inactive app and release it! We want every app to be a success, so don't hesitate to ask for a keyword.
  • Additional Short Code Parameter: With txtWeb going live on 51115, we have introduced a new parameter "txtWeb-channel" whose value will be "SMS_SHORTCODE"when a request is from a short code. This enables you as a developer, to log the requests differently at your end if you like. Since we don't have a portal up which shows you the requests you are getting on the short code, this could be a way for you to track your earnings. Having said that, we are actively working on getting that portal up and running so that you can track your earnings with complete transparency on our side. Rest assured we will show you every hit from the day we went Live.
  • txtWeb Numbers in Your Apps: We recently reached out to some of you who have the txtWeb numbers hardcoded in your app and asked you to replace them with the "</txtWeb>" tag in your app response HTML. This allows the platform to embed the right txtWeb number for the right channel used by the user – so if he is a long code user we will show him the long code for the state he belongs, which will ensure he doesn't pay STD charges. And if he is a short code user, we will embed the correct short code. This will ensure you get paid for every user request to your apps – please do this at the earliest so you can start earning.

Community Updates

This is completely event based i.e. users will pay per request. This is completely event based i.e. users will pay per request. We will hold onto your earnings for 3 months at any given time and then, will have to let go of that amount in the eventuality you haven't provided us your banking details.
  • We have a very special Launch Bonus for you guys. For the first 3 months of the launch we will give you an additional Rs. 150/- for every 2000 requests to your app. This is in addition to what you have earned from your app on 51115. So please do spread the word and market your app to get Idea users to start using your apps on 51115.
  • Lastly, how do you see how much you've earned? We ask for your patience here, as we are currently building the portal, we just need some more time. We will have every request from the launch date shown when we have the dashboard ready. You'll hear updates from us on this shortly.
