Republican vice chair Liz Cheney said yesterday at the end of the latest Jan. 6 House committee hearing that the panel contacted the Department of Justice after former President Donald Trump attempted to tamper with an unnamed committee witness who has not yet appeared at the hearings. "The person declined to answer or respond to President Trump's call," Cheney said. A spokesperson for Trump accused Cheney of "innuendo and lies" without specifically responding to her statement. And since you're using a charcoal grill to smoke the chicken, keep the coals glowing to make this grilled potato salad with a tasty vinaigrette. |

Tony Philiou knew that his 80-plus employees were in danger of losing their livelihoods in the three months it would take to renovate the McDonald's he owns in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, so he decided to put their minds at ease. Philiou, who owns multiple McDonald's franchises in Ohio, kept paying all his employees while the store was closed until they celebrated its grand reopening on July 6. Philiou (cutting the ribbon, above) knows what it's like to be in their shoes. Now 90, he has been with McDonald's since he took a part-time job slicing cheese in 1962. "I encourage my employees to stay with me," Philiou told us. "As I grow, they will grow." |
