Stay well all winter with these tips!
Happy Monday! The second week of the new year can be a real doozy. Why? Well, because a lot of us haven't made resolutions, don't want to make resolutions or we made resolutions and already feel like we've dropped the proverbial ball. We all need to remember that taking small steps towards wellness is actually the best strategy. "Small steps get you to your goals faster," say Stephanie Mansour, a personal trainer and TODAY fitness contributor. "I am blown away by so many of our amazing members who share their success stories with us. And a common theme is that starting with ONE step — be it making a healthy breakfast each morning, going on a short walk, or even drinking more water — helped catapult them to success." "So while you have your eye on the prize on your goal, remember to break down your goals into small, actionable steps that you can measure and celebrate along the way," says Mansour. |

Celebrate Non-scale Victories |
Not all progress can be measured. While it's great to have goals and to enjoy the process of achieving them, if you didn't make resolutions — or haven't yet — that's great, too! Not everyone likes to have an end-of-year destination in mind. A lot of the things that folks make resolutions about — like eating better and exercising — center around our health. Of course we all want to be healthy, but most of us make health goals because we want to be happier and more easeful in our lives. Happiness and ease can't be measured on a scale or with a microscope, so don't forget to celebrate your non-scale victories. If you had a great day, that's a win! If you felt strong enough to do something you couldn't do before, that's a win! And if you can accept yourself exactly how you are, that's a major win! |
