Supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who lost a bid for reelection last year, stormed government buildings in the South American nation's capitol yesterday. The rioters climbed on rooftops and broke windows in government buildings in a scene reminiscent of the Jan. 6 invasion of the U.S. Capitol. New President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who was sworn in on Jan. 1, denounced the rioters as "fascists," according to translations of his tweets. The assault, which resulted in hundreds of arrests, was condemned by President Joe Biden.

🏈 Damar Hamlin sent love to the Bills from the hospital ahead of the team's big win yesterday.

It was an emotional scene ahead of yesterday's Buffalo Bills game against the Patriots when safety Damar Hamlin tweeted a photo of himself in a "Love for Damar" T-shirt making a heart gesture with his hands from his hospital bed. It was the latest uplifting moment in Hamlin's recovery since he suffered cardiac arrest on the field in last week's game against the Bengals. The Bills rode that wave of emotion, with Nyheim Hines returning the opening kickoff for a 96-yard touchdown and then later returning another kickoff for a score in their 35-23 win over archrival New England. The Bills now enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the AFC.

The pandemic has accelerated a disturbing trend in which more men and women ages 25 to 34 are experiencing the type of severe and sometimes fatal liver damage related to drinking that usually is seen in people in their 50s and 60s. Death rates rose each year from 2017 to 2020 for both genders, but the annual mortality rate was rising faster in women (37%) than men (29%), according to a report in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
