According to the Centers for Disease and Control, approximately 30,000 cases of Lyme disease are reported each year. Experts predict that 2021 could be a bad year for ticks. Jim Fredericks, of the National Pest Management Association, offered some advice for staying safe this summer: Ticks prefer to hide in tall grassy areas – especially in "transitional" areas like where forest meets the field or a mowed lawn meets an unmowed fence line.
