It's a fact that, on average, men die earlier than women in almost every society around the world.
One possible reason may be that many men resist going to the doctor unless it's an emergency. Two-thirds of men think they're "naturally healthier than most people," one poll found.
But according to Dr. Cedrek McFadden, a clinical associate professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, men should see a primary care physician at least once a year.
There are also some red flag symptoms to be on the lookout for that should prompt a trip to the doctor. One of them? Excessive fatigue.
This symptom may indicate sleep apnea, a disorder where a person's breathing stops and restarts many times during sleep. There's an association between sleep apnea and high blood pressure and diabetes, which is all intertwined with overall health, McFadden noted.
3 other symptoms men should never ignore.
