Good morning! It's a new month and that means it's time for our April walking challenge. This month, our workouts will include walking and strength training with resistance bands — an accessible and effective way to build strength. But Start TODAY isn't just about fitness — it's a community built to support you through all the ups and downs of your health journey. Pamela Wampler, a Start TODAY member, says that Start TODAY gave her the inspiration and support she needed to replace wine with walking. Last year, Wampler's doctor said that she was in liver failure and needed to quit drinking. As of today, Wampler has been sober for almost a year, she's lost 53 pounds and she's happier than ever! "I feel more powerful. I feel better about myself. I feel like I can get up and conquer the world," Wampler said on TODAY. She said she found the Start TODAY group to be a safe space to share her struggles and ask for support. Whatever your personal journey looks like, we would love to have you in our caring, motivated community! |

The gut microbiome — the community of bacteria and other helpful organisms in your gut — can affect "every aspect of your health," Dr. Roshini Rajapaksa, gastroenterologist and author of "Gut Renovation Unlock the Age-Defying Power of the Microbiome to Remodel Your Health From the Inside Out," told the TODAY Show in a March 30, 2023 segment. Rajapaksa shared some helpful tips to know what to look for — and some signs that you might want to make your number twos a number one priority. Rajapaksa's forst tip is to keep track of your poop schedule. Yes, you should be pooping on a somewhat regular schedule, but that might look different from person to person. "I don't want people to get too hung up on (the idea that) I have to go like clockwork every single day," Rajapaksa said. Having a bowel movement "every one to three days is fine, especially if that's your regular pattern." Check out more of Rajapaksa's tips on how to tell if your poop habits are healthy. |
