Of all the wonderful things exercise does for your body, more evidence suggests losing weight isn't one of them.
Your brain is very good at matching how many calories you eat and how many calories you burn, says Herman Pontzer, a Duke University researcher and author of the book, "Burn." The human body's flexible metabolic engine means that the person who has a sedentary lifestyle and the person who has the active lifestyle will burn the same number of calories, Pontzer says.
