A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan at 8 a.m. local time on Wednesday, killing nine people, injuring hundreds and toppling buildings in the island's most powerful tremor since 1999. At least 882 people were injured and 131 were trapped, officials said, and the number of casualties could rise in the coming days.
