Ariel Henry, the prime minister of Haiti, said this morning that he would resign once a transitional council had been set up, following a week of "systematic looting and destruction of public buildings and private buildings." Henry has been on U.S. soil in Puerto Rico for the past week because he was unable to land in Haiti due to gang threats at the country's main airport. The small Caribbean country has been in a state of emergency since gangs attacked government institutions, the airport and prisons last week. The notorious "G9 and Family" gang leader, Jimmy Cherizier — known as "Barbecue"— threatened more violence if Henry, prime minister since 2021, did not step down. Here's the latest. |

When it comes to helping with weight loss, fruits not only can make you feel full longer, they're also low in calories. Dietitian Samantha Cassetty says that one fruit in particular is the way to go if you're trying to shed a few pounds. Apples have fiber that keeps you feeling full longer and eating less, and they draw water into your colon, which can reduce your hunger later in the day. Cassetty also broke down the benefits of 14 other fruits you can work into your diet, from blueberries to avocado. |

The mother of Texas high school football player Carter Mannon said his teammates put peanuts in his locker and filmed his reaction after learning he had a severe allergy to them. Shawna Mannon alleged that additional incidents occurred to the point where she pulled her children out of the school and is moving to another district. "Weaponizing someone's allergy should be criminal, just like poisoning or attacking with a deadly weapon," she told us. Continue reading. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
For 10 days, Smokin' Joe's BBQ in Noble, Oklahoma, kept getting funny phone calls from three very young-sounding mystery customers desperate for French fries. Co-owner Somer Williams put out a plea on Facebook trying to find the "little toot" behind the calls, creating an outpouring of support to get these kids their fries. Some persistent detective work resulted in tracking down the mom of the two oldest girls. It turned out that "Hailey in Pre-K" was the invention of Linda, 5, while her cousin Miley, 11, posed as her "mom" trying to order fries. Miley's sister Emily, 9, was the original French Fry Girl. In the end, they got their coveted fries. "Very sweet kids, and very much toots," Williams told us. "They are very inquisitive and very talkative." |
