In a primetime speech last night, President Joe Biden accused former President Donald Trump and his supporters of promoting an extreme ideology that "threatens the very foundations of our republic." He also referenced those who have embraced Trump's false claim that the 2020 election was rigged. "Democracy cannot survive when one side believes there are only two outcomes to an election: either they win, or they were cheated," Biden said. "And that's where the MAGA Republicans are today." Watch the full speech here. |

Former "Real Housewives of New York City" star Bethenny Frankel displayed the effects of photo filtering apps on social media by posting one photo of herself in a bikini on Instagram with filters, and one photo without them. "This is NOT what I look like … and you know that bc I'm not vain and show you the real me," she wrote. In the first photo, filters have seemingly been used to change her waistline, chest and skin texture. "Filtering is lying: it is deceptive," she wrote. "It makes women feel badly about themselves." See the before and after photos here. |

Carson opened up about the debilitating issues he has faced that led him to get major back surgery this week. The TODAY host has been dealing with back pain for decades and just had a different back procedure in June. (Turned out, that fix "wasn't the home run I was desperate for," Carson said.) The pain reached the point where he struggled to tie his shoes or put on his pants. "(I was) totally deteriorating physically," he told us. He hopes the ALIF procedure he had can finally give him a better quality of life. "At 49 years old with four young kids raring to go, that's everything," he said. |

Natalie Phelps, 40, began experiencing pain in her lower back and pelvis in the third trimester of her pregnancy that worsened after delivery and was followed by unusual bowel movements. She said her symptoms were dismissed by her doctor and she was told to see a therapist because it was psychosomatic. The Washington mom then had a colonoscopy that found she had stage 4 colorectal cancer. "I was just confused, but I trusted my doctor," Phelps told us. "When I look back at those correspondences ... they make me really angry." |

The summer's not over if you're still eating delicious chicken sandwiches off the grill, right? Mark Anderson and Ryan Fey, aka The Grill Dads, stopped by with a recipe for an Italian chicken smashburger that brings together meatballs, tomato sauce and burgers for delicious layers of flavor. Also, we loved their Buffalo chicken pattie sammie, which pairs a homemade blue cheese sauce with plenty of crunch. |

Who says moms can't have their own first-day-of-school chalkboard signs? North Carolina mom Jeni Bukolt put a funny twist on the posts that pop up all over social media this time of year with her own personalized sign. "I am 42 years tired," the sign says. "I'll probably miss a school 'theme' day. I really like sleep. Please don't ask me to volunteer. But I will buy you supplies." Bukolt has heard from plenty of moms who know the feeling. "Parents put so much pressure on themselves to live up to a certain standard on social media," she told us. "No one has a perfect life and we don't have to judge each other." |
