Shigo picked this Covergirl brow pencil as her winner because she was wowed by its easy application and natural-looking pigment. She says, “I was left staring at my eyebrows in the mirror for a long time because they had never looked this real. For under $10, I was shocked at how well it filled in my brows.”

Shigo says that “you really can’t beat a $4 price tag" — especially when the product performs as well as more expensive options. She says, “I was surprised at how well this pencil blended in with my natural hair color and how easy it was to create hair-like strokes.”

If you have thinner brows or are aiming for a precise look, Shigo recommends this Nano brow pencil from Morphe. She noted that it was great at providing a “hair-like effect” because the tip of the pencil was very small and allowed for detailed application.

This pencil is a true multitasker: It features a hidden brow gel and brush on one end that Shigo says is great for adding definition — especially for those with thicker brows. “The color was very visible," she reported, adding that it "blended well with my natural hair.”

During her month-long testing period, Shigo spoke with makeup artists and experts about how to best apply brow pencils to achieve a natural look. Shigo used each eyebrow pencil on completely bare brows, wearing the products to the office and during workouts. She judged each on qualities such as how easily they applied, how long they lasted, and how pigmented they looked.
