Eric Dane gives a look at life with ALS and raises awareness in one of his first acting roles since announcing he has the neurodegenerative disorder. Plus, a man jokingly asks his wife for a "hot nanny" and gets his wish in a way he never thought, and a trainer shares the No. 1 exercise to do every day to build strength.
In one of his first acting roles since being diagnosed with ALS, Eric Dane gave a glimpse into life with the neurodegenerative disorder on last night's episode of NBC's "Brilliant Minds." Dane, 53, who announced in April that he has ALS, plays a firefighter grappling with the physical and emotional struggle of living with the fatal and incurable disorder. "Sometimes letting people help is the greatest gift you can give them," his character says in the episode.
When Tennessee dad Vinny Hickerson joked with his wife that they should get "a hot nanny" when they were in urgent need of childcare, he unwittingly spoke it into existence. Out of desperation, he reached out to friend AJ Gatio, a former first-grade teacher and musician suddenly out of work in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. "I used to think guys shouldn't watch kids," Vinny tells TODAY.com. "I figured they'd be too distracted. I was dead wrong. He was incredible."
