Officials said 11 students at a high school in Syracuse, New York, turned themselves in yesterday after an alleged incident involving the boys lacrosse team that the local district attorney called "hazing on steroids." "At some point by prearrangement, people came out of the woods all dressed in black. They were armed with what appeared to be at least one handgun and at least one knife," Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick said. "The individual had a pillowcase placed over his head. He was tied up and placed in the trunk of a car." Fitzpatrick and the local sheriff's office had given anyone involved a 48-hour window to turn themselves in to avoid criminal records. No names have been released. |

Emma Dimery, 36, had run out of treatment options for Stage 4 colorectal cancer when she enrolled in a clinical trial and underwent therapy in late 2022 and early 2023. Two months after completing the study, she learned stunning news. "There was no evidence of disease," she told TODAY.com. "It was amazing. My whole adult life up to that point I was pretty much a cancer patient." Doctors used CRISPR gene editing to create an individualized treatment for Stage 4 colorectal cancer patients in the trial, according to Dr. Emil Lou. Learn more about her journey. |

A custom red Amsale gown hung in Allison Winn Scotch's closet for more than 20 years after she wore it to her brother's wedding in 2003. "I could never bring myself to part with it — the craftsmanship was so meticulous, so beautifully done," Scotch, a New York Times best-selling novelist, told TODAY.com. This year, it gained new life when her daughter, Amelia, 18, got past her initial reluctance over the dress and ended up wearing it to her senior prom. "It was perfect," Amelia said.
