Dylan Dreyer's Tortilla Soup |
Back in college, Dylan Dreyer loved ordering tortilla soup at a local Mexican restaurant — and eventually she realized it was actually the way they served the dish that made it so fun.
The chefs would put all of the delicious mix-ins (including avocado, shredded cheese, chicken and anything else you'd like) into the bottom of a bowl, and then they would pour the soup over it all when they were ready to dish it out to guests. Nuts are a salty, crunchy and surprisingly healthy snack. Packed with nutrients, some types of nuts can be a great way to meet your daily protein goals while loading up on vitamins and minerals.
In addition to plant-based protein, nuts are a good source of many other healthy nutrients. That includes heart-healthy unsaturated fat, vitamin E, fiber, folate, B vitamins and magnesium, says Natalie Rizzo, registered dietitian and TODAY nutrition editor.
When it comes to protein, Rizzo says, three nuts come in basically at a tie:
