The Supreme Court raised the bar for prosecuting former President Donald Trump, and his lawsuits are now facing delays. Ahead of the Fourth of July, a mother warns against the dangers of fireworks after a shell exploded on her 7-year-old daughter, and pediatricians share what pool toys they avoid to keep their children safe in the water. |

The Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 vote Monday that former President Donald Trump has immunity for some of his actions closely tied to his role as president in his federal election interference case. The court's ruling will further delay the criminal case related to Trump's efforts to stop the transfer of power in the lead up to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Meanwhile, Trump's attorneys in his hush money case wrote a letter indicating they want the judge to postpone sentencing — and set aside the verdict. |

The mother of a 7-year-old girl who was burned by fireworks spoke to TODAY.com about firework safety — and the dangers that come with lighting them. At a Fourth of July Celebration in 2019, Kayla Cox's daughter Harlee was on a blanket watching the fireworks when a shell fell over and fired at the crowd. Harlee was hit in the neck, and her hair and clothing caught on fire, leading to third-degree burns. "I am not going to lie, I am no longer a big fan of the Fourth of July," her mother said. "For me, experiencing this with my child has really affected me. It makes me look at this holiday a lot different." Read about Harlee's recovery. |

Drowning is the leading cause of death in kids ages 1 to 4, and TODAY.com asked pediatricians which pool toys they avoid to help keep their children safe. Experts said water wings, or inflatable bands that wrap around a child's upper arms, can slip off or deflate. "If (the floaties) slip down the arm, the child can be stuck with their arms out of the water and face under," said Dr. Jenelle Ferry, a neonatologist and mom of three in Florida. Experts also warned against neck floaties and mermaid tails. Read more pool safety tips for kids. |

Robbie Crane of Tampa, Florida, has reached social media stardom — and he's not even 2 years old. A family friend told his mom Michelle that he looked like a mini John Goodman, the actor who played Dan Conner on "Roseanne." She set out to find him the perfect outfit of jeans, a button-down flannel shirt and a vest to help her toddler resemble the character. "I posted a video and the next thing I knew, my phone got so many alerts," she said. See photos of Robbie's resemblance to the TV dad here, and find out which TV icons the toddler may take on next. |
