Video captured maternity nurses at a hospital in Taipei, Taiwan, rushing to protect newborn babies during the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that rocked the island Wednesday. "Of course we were scared, very scared, but I think this is the natural instinct of a maternity staff," Chen Ting-Chin, the supervisor of Ma Cherie Maternity Centre, told Reuters. "The safety of the babies is of utmost importance." There were 1,123 people injured, 634 trapped and 13 missing as of Friday afternoon, according to the Central Disaster Response Center, while a dozen people have died as a result of the quake. |
