Republican hopefuls clash at the first presidential primary debate, while former President Donald Trump skips the event and is now expected to turn himself in to authorities in Georgia to face charges that he meddled in the state's 2020 presidential election. Plus, why this week's winners of "The Bachelorette" particularly struck a chord with Black fans, and foods you should avoid if you're taking Ozempic or Wegovy for weight loss. |

Black couples have been crowned before in "The Bachelor" universe, but the recent winners of "The Bachelorette" being Black and not biracial was particularly meaningful for Black "Bachelor" fans. Charity Lawson, 27, offered the final rose to Dotun Olubeko, 30, in the season finale earlier this week. And for many fans of color, seeing a dark-skinned couple end up together felt like a landmark moment for the series, which has been criticized in the past for how it handles race. "Could America finally get to see what healthy 'Black love' looks like? That wholesome, storybook kind of love? Yes!" one longtime fan told TODAY.com. Read more reactions here. |

We'll be honest, we had never heard of an heirloom tomato galette before, but seeing this mouth-watering, pizza/pie dough creation by TODAY food stylist Katie Stilo has us eager to try one. A galette is essentially a large pastry, which in this case is topped with heirloom tomatoes, seasoning and Parmesan for an irresistible treat. Make sure to season your tomatoes in advance to draw out the excess moisture prior to baking in order to avoid a soggy pastry. Get the recipe. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
When this giraffe was born last month, she came out looking spotless. Literally. It's so rare to see a giraffe without spots that the Brights Zoo in Tennessee said the baby girl is believed to be the only solid-colored reticulated giraffe in the world. (Reticulated giraffes are a subspecies of giraffes). Not only is the adorable 6-foot-tall giraffe spotless, she's also nameless. Brights Zoo is asking the public to help name her by picking from one of four choices. Get your vote in here. |
