Photographer Bryan Randall, who had been in a relationship with actor Sandra Bullock for eight years, died at 57 after "a three-year battle with ALS," his family said in a statement to NBC News yesterday. Randall had been privately living with ALS, a nervous system disease with no cure. He and Bullock made their red carpet debut as a couple in 2015, and she adopted her second child soon after she started dating Randall. The couple never married. "I don't want to say do it how I do it, but I don't need a paper to be a devoted partner and a devoted mother," Bullock said on "Red Table Talk" in 2021. Read more about Randall here. |

"Steals and Deals" maven Jill Martin shared her positive outlook and what's next in her treatment plan in her first appearance on TODAY since undergoing a double mastectomy for breast cancer. "I said you could either stay home and cry under the covers, or I can come to work and be myself," she said. "And I'm not going to let cancer take that away from me." She will next be undergoing a full hysterectomy to reduce her risk of ovarian cancer and finalizing whether she'll need chemotherapy. Jill also wrote an emotional essay for TODAY.com about her "earth-shattering" diagnosis and treatment. |

Achieve your life and health goals with easy tips. |
It sounds like one of those jargon-y terms that you might nod and pretend to know when a musclehead at the gym mentions them. But seriously, drop sets can be a muscle-building addition to your weight training routine. What it means is that you start with the heaviest weight and perform a small amount of reps. Then, you lighten the load and do more reps. Finally, you lighten the load one more time and do the most number of reps. The goal is to complete as many reps as you can in one set before your muscles completely fatigue. We also outline the difference between drop sets and supersets, and provide a sample drop set you can incorporate into your routine. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
The smashing success of the "Barbie" movie starring Margot Robbie (above) has reminded one woman of the hilarious accident from her own "Barbie"-themed birthday party as a 5-year-old in the 1990s. Julia Duggan, 32, a pharmacist from Maine, shared on TikTok how her mother wanted to get a Barbie impersonator for Julia's birthday, so she called some numbers in the phone book. The "impersonator" arrived in a bikini top and a grass skirt. "The woman shows up and she's a stripper and I love her," Duggan says in her video. "She played along. She did not take off her clothes. I followed her around, thrilled that Barbie came to my birthday party, and all of the parents there had a really good laugh." It wasn't until Duggan was in high school that she learned the truth about her visit from Barbie. "My mom was like, 'Oh, it's an interesting story,'" Duggan said. |
