| At least 36 people are dead and more than 11,000 have been evacuated from Maui after wildfires rapidly spread across the Hawaiian island yesterday, officials in Maui County said. Another 2,000 people are expected to leave by Friday, officials said. The fires on Maui and the Big Island have been fanned by the winds from Hurricane Dora, a Category 4 storm. The U.S. Coast Guard rescued multiple residents after they fled into the Pacific Ocean to escape the fast-moving blazes. "I was the last one off the dock," one man told NBC News. "When the firestorm came through, (it) took everything with it." Lahaina, a seaside town that was once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, was decimated by the fires. Here's the latest. |

The FBI shot and killed a Utah man yesterday who allegedly made online threats to kill President Joe Biden and New York prosecutor Alvin Bragg while serving a warrant at his Provo home, officials said. The suspect was identified in charging documents obtained by NBC News as Craig Deleeuw Robertson. He allegedly made a threat on Monday that referenced the president's trip to Utah this week, saying he needed to prepare his camouflage and sniper rifle. He also mentioned other politicians, including New York Attorney General Letitia James, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, according to the documents. A little pick-me-up before you go. |
Less readin' and more baptizin'! An 11-month-old boy named Sullivan made sure his family would never forget his baptism when he impulsively slapped a book of sacraments out of the priest's hands ... and directly into a baptismal fountain. The sidesplitting moment at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Lancaster, New York, was shared on TikTok by the family. "My brother was roaring with laughter," Sullivan's mom, Candace Williams, told TODAY.com. "My mother-in-law was in the front row and she tried to keep it together, but she couldn't do it." As for the priest, he was not going to let some soggy pages stop him from doing the Lord's work. "He was a champ," Candace said. "He picked the book right back up and kept going." See the hilarious moment here. |
