President Joe Biden made his reelection bid official this morning, releasing a video titled "Freedom" in which he said he is running for the White House again in 2024. The video opens with a scene from the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and images of an abortion rights protest. "When I ran for president four years ago, I said we are in a battle for the soul of America. And we still are. The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom," Biden says in the video. Biden, 80, is the oldest president in U.S. history and would be 86 at the end of a second term if he is reelected. Biden faces a Republican field that includes former President Donald Trump, whom Biden defeated in 2020, as the front-runner. Here's the latest. |

A pair of prominent cable news figures exited their networks yesterday, including Tucker Carlson, the most popular prime-time host at Fox News. The network announced the stunning news after it agreed to pay nearly $800 million to settle a lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems to avoid a defamation trial. Fox News announced that Carlson's last program was on April 21, saying it has "agreed to part ways" with the host, without specifying any reason. Less than an hour later, Lemon announced that he was "stunned" to learn he was fired by CNN after 17 years at the network. The news came after Variety published a story earlier this month about allegations that Lemon mistreated his female colleagues over the course of his career at CNN. Hear former CNN anchor Brian Stelter break down the shakeups. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
James Corden and Adele were rolling deep in their feelings in the final "Carpool Karaoke" as Corden prepares to exit his late-night show. They laughed, they cried and Adele drove. Corden got to be a passenger for once, and the old friends started by singing their hearts out to her hit "Rolling in the Deep." The pair later held hands while duetting on "I Drink Wine," which Adele said she wrote after an emotional conversation with Corden during her separation from her husband. Corden's final episode of "The Late Late Show" is on Friday, and the moment hit home during the segment. "This is the last 'Carpool Karaoke' that I'm ever going to do," he said. "It's a lot." Adele then wiped away tears, calling him one of her "best friends in the whole world." Watch the video here. |
