Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed in a speech in Moscow today that Ukraine and its Western allies started the war nearly a year ago, when it was Russia that invaded Ukraine in a move widely condemned as illegal. President Joe Biden is marking the one-anniversary of the war with a visit to Poland, a key NATO ally, after a clandestine trip to Ukraine's capital of Kyiv yesterday. Biden is expected to deliver remarks about the war during his trip. Here's the latest. |

Los Angeles police identified a suspect yesterday in the fatal shooting of Catholic Bishop David O'Connell, 69, a beloved community figure known as "Bishop Dave." Carlos Medina, 65, the husband of the bishop's housekeeper, was identified as the suspect in Saturday's slaying over what police believe may have been a dispute about money. Medina surrendered to police yesterday after a standoff at his residence. O'Connell was a priest and bishop for 45 years who helped to ease tensions between residents and law enforcement in southern Los Angeles. "This man, this bishop, made a huge difference in our community," the LA County sheriff said. "He was loved." |

Madonna tweeted a sassy photo of herself in red braids on Monday with the caption, "Look how cute i am now that swelling from surgery has gone down. Lol." It was not clear if she was joking or if she was actually recovering from surgery. The music legend, 64, appeared to be responding to the negative comments about her face after her appearance at the Grammy Awards earlier this month. The music icon previously fired back at her critics right after the show in an Instagram post calling out "ageism and misogyny." See her latest photo here. |

Those are important questions at a time when many people struggle to find a primary care provider who will listen and take their concerns seriously. Dr. F. Perry Wilson, author of "How Medicine Works and When It Doesn't: Learning Who to Trust to Get and Stay Healthy," has 7 signs you and your doctor are on the same page, and 5 warning signs that maybe it's time to switch physicians. Letting you talk and acknowledging uncertainty are good signs, whereas a doctor who makes guarantees or refuses to share sources of information can be red flags. See all the tips here. |

Allow us to do the meal-planning for you. |
Fifteen minutes of prep is all you need and your slow cooker will do the rest for this delicious chicken and wild rice casserole (above). Making it from scratch allows you to skip the canned soup or boxed mixes, which tend to be filled with sodium and other additives. We also have other meals to try to this week if you feel like you're in a winter rut, including red wine spaghetti and sheet-pan Italian sausage with kale, cannellini beans and tomatoes.
