The family of Jordan Brister is mourning his loss after the senior at Amplus Academy in Las Vegas suffered cardiac arrest following gym class and was found unresponsive in a bathroom last week, his family told NBC affiliate KSNV. By the time Jordan was found, there was nothing emergency personnel could do to save him, his family said. A friend of the family wrote on a Go Fund Me page that Jordan "suddenly and unexpectedly" had a heart attack and there was "no explanation as to why." Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in high school athletes, according to Dr. Adam Kean at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Kean added that "even though it is the No. 1 cause, it is remarkably rare." Read more here. |

TikToker and model Remi Bader said in an episode of the "Not Skinny Not Fat" podcast that her binge-eating disorder returned almost immediately after she stopped taking Ozempic, a drug used to treat Type 2 diabetes that has become a trendy for weight loss. Bader said she was prescribed it to help with pre-diabetic insulin issues and weight gain. "It was making me think I wasn't hungry for so long, I lost some weight," she said. "I was like, 'I bet the second I got off I'm going to get starving again.' I did, and my binging got so much worse. I gained double the weight back after." The soaring popularity of Ozempic for weight-loss has now caused an outcry from diabetics and their doctors, as the FDA says it has created a shortage of the much-needed drug for people with diabetes. |

Tennis star Naomi Osaka, 25, shared yesterday that she is pregnant with her first child, posting a photo of her sonogram on her social media channels with "a little life update." Osaka withdrew from the Australian Open last Saturday without citing a reason. "I realize that life is so short and I don't take any moments for granted, everyday is a new blessing and adventure," the four-time Grand Slam winner wrote yesterday. "I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I'm looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, 'that's my mom,' haha." Osaka, who did not disclose the identity of the baby's father, added that she plans to return to the court in 2024. |

The halls of Congress became daddy daycare while members of the House of Representatives waited to be sworn in through multiple days of voting amid the chaotic speakership battle last week. Dads like Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.) and Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Tex.) (above) didn't just have their kids there for a nice photo op — they were changing diapers, putting "Bluey" on the iPad and handing out snacks during the seemingly endless wait. Castro told us the situation represented "a growing expectation that fathers will step up and do more of the caregiving." "Yes, this is a special occasion — our kids can't be with us every day," he said. "But I do think it reflects something broader in American culture." See more photos here |
