President Biden said in a speech last night that next week's midterm elections are a "defining moment" and called election deniers an existential threat to democracy. "We don't settle our differences in America with a riot, a mob or a bullet or a hammer. We settle them peacefully at the ballot box. We have to be honest with ourselves, though. We have to face this problem. We can't turn away from it." Biden also condemned former President Donald Trump, saying democracy was "under attack because the defeated former president of the United States refused to accept the results of the 2020 election, he refuses to accept the will of the people, he refuses to accept the fact that he lost." |

The pageant world has itself a new power couple. Miss Argentina 2020 Mariana Varela, 26, and Miss Puerto Rico 2020 Fabiola Valentin, 22, said they secretly got married on Oct. 28 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, after having kept their relationship out of the public eye. The couple, who competed together at a Miss Grand International event in 2020, shared a video of candid moments that included their engagement and a sweet moment in front of the Marriage Bureau. "Congratulations to both of you," the Miss Grand International Organization wrote on Instagram. "MGIO always support "LOVE" without boundaries." See their video + more photos here. |

Jenna Bush Hager is "obsessed" with mystery novels, and she says her November book club pick is "the perfect mystery." Katy Hays' debut novel "The Cloisters" is set in the branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City known by the same name. It features a Middle Ages expert fresh out of college who gets pulled into a mystery that reminded Jenna of "The Talented Mr. Ripley" with twists reminiscent of "Gone Girl." Readers can also join Jenna and Katy for a Conversations and Cocktails virtual event on Nov. 29 at 6:30 pm ET. Here's what to know about the event. |

You've never seen a security guard with moves like this. Michael Galyean appeared to be ruining the University of Tennessee dance team's routine when he walked into the middle of it at halftime of the Vols' recent football game. Instead, he ended up bringing the house down by joining the team in their choreographed routine, nailing the moves as the crowd roared. Galyean is a former high school cheerleader and friend of UT's dance coach, who asked him if he wanted to impersonate a security guard for the viral moment. "In my head, I was going, 'What am I doing? Are my knees going to break? Am I too old for this? They're going to hate me,'" the 40-year-old told us. "When that first count hit and I broke into the routine, holy moly." Watch the full video here. |
