First responders rescued two people from a plane dangling more than 100 feet off the ground after it struck a high-voltage transmission tower outside Gaithersburg, Maryland, yesterday. The daring rescue involved testing power lines near the wreckage to ensure they wouldn't jolt emergency personnel or the two people trapped in the plane, officials said. The two people rescued were in their 60s and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Power has been restored to about 120,000 homes that were affected when the crash caused an outage. |

Orus Coffield wrote a grateful reflection on his life and gave his thoughts about people referring to cancer as a "battle" in his own obituary before dying of a rare cancer at 43. "My time on this Earth may have been shorter than I would like, but a life full of enriching experiences has resulted in some important lessons learned," Coffield wrote. The father from Connecticut also wrote about his frustration with how people talk about cancer. "I never want my death due to cancer to be discussed in the style of 'he lost his battle' or 'after a long valiant fight' or any other similar language. And now that I have died due to cancer, does this mean I didn't fight hard enough or lacked the will to live? Of course not." Read the full obituary here. |

Attention shoppers, we've got a wedding on aisle 8! Love was in the air right next to the Miracle Whip at an Arizona grocery store when Brenda and Dennis Delgado tied the knot in the spot where they first met at Fry's Food & Drug. Brenda, 72, and Dennis, 78, had both endured the deaths of their long-time spouses within the past two years when they began chatting near the mayonnaise shelf. Nine months later, they got married in the same spot in front of family, friends and fellow shoppers. "We don't have that many more years to do something dumb and stupid," Brenda told NBC affiliate KPNX. "On the lighter side, if you're looking for love go, to Fry's, or don't give up. Keep looking." |
