An attorney for former President Donald Trump said yesterday that the FBI removed about 12 boxes from a basement storage area at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, and that a search warrant left by agents indicated they were investigating possible violations of laws dealing with the handling of classified material and the Presidential Records Act. Attorney Christina Bobb said Trump's legal team was in talks with the Justice Department in June about records stored at his home, and that Trump's lawyers earlier this year turned over "a few pages" of documents that might meet the definition of presidential records. |

Facebook turned over to police the chats of a Nebraska mother and daughter in an investigation into an illegal abortion after the company was served with a warrant, court documents show. Prosecutors said Jessica Burgess, 41, provided abortion pills to her daughter, Celeste, who was 17 at the time, and then helped her bury and then rebury the fetus. Their alleged chats show a user named Jessica telling a user named Celeste about "What i ordered last month" and instructing her to take two pills 24 hours apart. It's the type of case abortion law experts expect to see more of as abortions become illegal in many states. |

Tennis legend Serena Williams, 40, announced in a Vogue essay yesterday that her career will come to a close sometime after playing in the U.S. Open this month. Williams wrote that she had to choose between motherhood and the sport because she wants to grow her family with husband Alexis Ohanian. "If I were a guy, I wouldn't be writing this because I'd be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family," she wrote. "Maybe I'd be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity." You can read the whole essay here. |
