There's more to heart health than controlling cholesterol and blood pressure. Keeping chronic inflammation in check also plays a big role — another factor where diet can make a difference, a new study has found.
People who ate lots of red meat, processed meat, refined carbohydrates and other foods with higher "inflammatory potential" had a 46% higher risk of heart disease and a 28% higher risk of stroke compared to people who ate an anti-inflammatory diet.
