More than two-thirds of adults in the United States say that the 2020 election is a significant source of stress in their lives, according to new data from the American Psychological Association. And added stress is not good for anyone – especially with all that is going on in the world. Mental health experts spoke to TODAY about what people can do to destress.
One key takeaway: Stop doomscrolling. Start by trying to limit the amount of time you spend scrolling on social media or obsessing over the news. If you are still reading a lot of news, make sure you're getting it from unbiased sources. Setting time limits on your apps can be helpful. Or consider setting rules: No phones at the dinner table or in the bedroom.
