Summer is my favorite season by far. The beach, the ice cream, the outdoor activities; I love it all. Not to mention, I love how easy it is to throw on a sundress and sandals and call it an outfit. But that first swimsuit day of the season can be intimidating (to say the least).
As women, we tend to judge ourselves harshly and point out every "flaw" and insecurity, but what if we flipped the conversation? That's why we declared this TODAY Style's "Love Your Body" week – and it's been a blast.
To help us celebrate, Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager each wrote heartwarming letters to their daughters to help them face the inevitable body image pressure that comes with growing up as a girl. Just try not to cry as they share personal stories and self-confidence mottos with their little girls!
We also asked nine brave women to participate in a little experiment. It was an emotional experience for all involved — from Katie Sturino, an outspoken body-positivity blogger, to Rachelle Chapman, who was paralyzed right before her wedding, and even "The Bachelor's" Lesley Murphy, who recently underwent a preventative double mastectomy after testing positive for the BRCA1 gene. While each of their stories are unique, they shared a day of honesty, inspiration and self-love.
Our hope is that this conversation helps YOU feel stronger, better and more beautiful when you look in the mirror. As Ashley Graham so wisely said, "You are bold. You are brilliant. You are beautiful." | | | | | |
