Elizabeth Smart, a child sexual abuse survivor who is now an advocate for other survivors of sexual violence, is stronger than ever. The 38-year-old mom of three posted a video from a recent bodybuilding competition on Instagram and celebrated the event even though she finished at the bottom of the standings. “I’ve always said ‘just stepping on stage is a win for me!’ And I completely stand by that,” she wrote. Naomi Pineiro was exercising, eating well and taking Type 2 diabetes medication, but her blood sugar kept climbing even as she lost 30 pounds. Frustration with her doctor led her to try the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and she learned she had been misdiagnosed for years. She's now had to learn how to manage an entirely different disease, but has recovered to the point where she is set to compete in a marathon at the end of this month. "You can still achieve great things," she tells TODAY.com.
