About 700 Marines will deploy to Los Angeles to support the roughly 300 National Guard members already in the city to control protests against federal immigration raids, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said. Protests erupted after Immigration Customs Enforcement officers carried out sweeps on June 6 in three locations across Los Angeles. The Trump administration said LA residents should expect the ICE arrests to continue. California Gov. Gavin Newsom called the raids "chaotic federal sweeps" that aimed to fill an "arbitrary arrest quota." |

The FDA announced that California-based August Egg Company is recalling 1.7 million dozen brown cage-free and brown certified organic eggs due to a potential salmonella contamination. At least 79 people from seven states have been infected with the outbreak strain of salmonella and 21 have been hospitalized, according to the CDC.
