Besides saving time and money, meal prep offers some science-backed health perks. For instance, when you make meals at home, you're not relying on fast food, takeout and prepared foods that studies link to poor diet quality and negative health outcomes. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the flavors you love. This week's meal plan uses your favorite takeout dishes as inspiration for homemade meals that are just as satisfying. |

Today's workout is a walk. Stair climbing gets the heart pumping quickly, as anyone who's ever skipped the elevator or escalator knows. That makes it an excellent low-impact exercise that's as accessible as walking, since stairs are everywhere, but it burns many more calories. Even short bouts come with powerful health benefits, including improved heart health, weight loss and a longer life. The movement is simple, but intense because stair climbing forces you to work against gravity as you repeatedly propel your body up a small height, doctors say. Is climbing stairs a good workout? |

I love this dish because it is so versatile. There are so many ways to customize it using leftover ingredients and items you have on-hand. It is colorful like the leaves on the trees, filled with flavor of the season and satisfying textures. What are micronutrients? These 11 foods are packed with important vitamins and minerals |
As a dietitian at a major medical institution, I often talk with patients about the three macronutrients — protein, fat and carbs, so named because we need large amounts in our diet. But I much less frequently am asked about the foods with micronutrients, or the vitamins and minerals we need to consume in smaller quantities. A recent analysis by researchers at Harvard and published in Lancet Global Health has found that more than half of the world's population is not getting enough micronutrients, especially iodine, vitamin E, calcium, iron, riboflavin, folate, vitamin C and vitamin B6. The study also found deficiencies varied by gender, with women more likely to have inadequate intake of B12 and iron, and men more likely to not get enough magnesium and zinc. Here's what to know about micronutrients and food. |
