Prosecutors have argued that Trump instructed his former fixer, Michael Cohen, to pay off adult film star Stormy Daniels for her silence about an alleged sexual encounter, and then repaid Cohen by saying the money was for legal services. The defense has portrayed Cohen as dishonest and said he acted alone, while Trump has denied having a sexual encounter with Daniels.
