In an exclusive interview ahead of the release of his new memoir, Charles Spencer opened up on TODAY this morning about alleged sexual and physical abuse he suffered while a student at a boarding school in England. In "A Very Private School," the brother of Princess Diana writes that he was sexually abused at 11 years old by a female staff member at Maidwell Hall, a prep school in Northampton, during his time there in the 1970s. He also details allegations of physical abuse by teachers and a headmaster. "I told a friend of mine about this recently, and he said, 'I just can't believe you weren't protected,'" Spencer said. "As if coming from this incredibly privileged background somehow would be protection against pedophiles and sadists." Continue reading. |

Achieve your life and health goals with easy tips. |
We wanted to find out what works best when it comes to sticking with a walking habit, so we went right to the source — our Start TODAY members. We asked some of the hundreds of walkers who joined Al Roker and Stephanie Mansour in South Carolina how they made walking a daily habit. One factor stood above the rest: "Having a group, for me, is very important. It keeps me accountable," one runner told us. If you can't find a local group or are too intimidated to join one in person, consider an online forum with like-minded people, like our Start TODAY Facebook group. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
Craig Melvin made sure to make time to see a special member of the TODAY family during a recent trip to Arizona. The TODAY anchor shared a sweet moment with Nancy Guthrie, Savannah's mom, during a visit to Tucson. Craig was there to support the Colorectal Cancer Alliance in honor of his late brother, and he took time to stop by and see Nancy. "This is friendship and love in action," Savannah wrote on Instagram. See more of her appreciation of Craig here. |
