"Friends" creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane spoke exclusively with Hoda Kotb about their final conversation two weeks ago with Matthew Perry, who died at his home on Oct. 28. "He was happy and chipper," Kauffman said. "He didn't seem weighed down by anything. He was in a really good place, which is why this seems so unfair." Police said Perry, 54, died of an apparent drowning in a jacuzzi, but an official cause is pending a coroner's investigation. In one moment, Crane told Hoda he agreed with a remark Perry once made that people would shocked, but not surprised, by his death, given his addiction struggles. "There was always a part that was kind of bracing for something like this. But it is still hard to believe," Crane said. Many fans honored Perry with Halloween costumes inspired by his "Friends" character, Chandler Bing. See Hoda's full interview. |

| Does a low-carb diet mean no carbs or just reduced carbs? Is it sugar free? Do calories matter? Registered dietitian Heather Martin breaks down what it actually entails by providing 3 general guidelines, like not eating all your carbs for the day in one meal. She also shared three sample meal plans, including one featuring fast food items like a McDonald's breakfast burrito and a Chipotle steak bowl. See all the plans here. |

With the weather getting chilly as we head into November, lip balm is a must. But some of them might actually make your lips more chapped, according to dermatologists we spoke with. Any balm that makes your lips tingle, cold, or soothes them with a menthol-y feeling can mean they contain an irritant that leaves your lips dry in the long run. Instead, you should look for balms with hydrating ingredients like coconut oil and glycerin. Our Shop TODAY team has 6 dermatologist-approved lip balms you can pick up right now. |

When Hoda and Jenna weren't crooning "I Got You Babe" as Sonny and Cher during part of TODAY's Halloween celebration, they were having a blast with their children for the holiday. Jenna's son Hal, 4, dressed as a "fire tiger," so Jenna dressed as "fire." Hoda's daughter Haley, 6, dressed as a Glinda the Good Witch but declared herself Princess Peach, while her younger daughter, Hope, 4, turned into a butterfly. See all the photos here. |
