It's another scorching day for much of the country with heat alerts stretching from California to South Florida. Triple-digit temperatures continue to plague the Southwest, with highs expected to reach a staggering 120 degrees in some spots by the weekend. El Paso, Texas, has had 26 100 degree-plus days in a row, their longest streak ever recorded, while Miami has seen 31 consecutive days of 100 degree-plus index heat. A persistent heat dome over the Southwest is bringing "anomalously hot summer weather" to the region, the National Weather Service said yesterday. Meanwhile, in the Northeast, Vermont is slowly recovering from a storm that delivered two months of rain in two days, trapping residents in homes, closing roadways and choking streets with mud and debris. Above, two kayakers paddle through floodwaters in Montpelier. Here's the latest. |

Kaley Cuoco can attest that the aches and pains don't end after pregnancy. "The Flight Attendant" star shared that she is suffering from "mommy wrist," a bout of tendinitis likely caused by repeatedly lifting her 3-month-old daughter, Matilda. The new mom shared a photo on Instagram story of her left wrist in a black compression bandage. "Mommy wrist" is officially known as de Quervain tenosynovitis and occurs due to repetitive movements such as lifting, carrying or nursing an infant, according to the Mayo Clinic. It can usually be alleviated with a brace, ice and an over-the-counter pain reliever, but in some cases requires physical therapy. Read more here. |

At 103 years old, E. Gerald Meyer still goes for a daily walk, competes in road races at the National Senior Games and only gave up riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle a few years ago. The retired University of Wyoming professor, who was born in 1919, shared the 4 tips that have kept him going with no major health scares. He explained how exercise was almost more important for his mind than his body, and why exploring Wyoming on his Harley kept him feeling young. Above all, there's his mindset. "I'm an optimist, of course," he told TODAY.com. "I've always been. You have to be." |
