The House voted 314-117 last night to pass the debt ceiling legislation negotiated by Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Joe Biden, sending it to the Senate five days before a potentially disastrous default. The bill would extend the debt limit for two years alongside a two-year budget agreement if it is signed into law. "This budget agreement is a bipartisan compromise," Biden said in a statement. "Neither side got everything it wanted. That's the responsibility of governing." The bill now goes to the Democratic-led Senate, where it needs 60 votes before it can get to Biden's desk. The Senate only has a handful of days to vote on it as the U.S. nears Monday's deadline to act or risk an economically catastrophic default on the nation's debt. Here's the latest. |

Actor Danny Masterson, 47, was found guilty yesterday of two of three counts charging him with raping three women more than 20 years ago. The "That '70s Show" star was led from a Los Angeles courtroom in handcuffs while his wife, the actor and model Bijou Phillips, wept. He faces up to 30 years in prison at his sentencing on Aug. 4. The verdict came six months after Masterson's first trial ended in a mistrial. He was charged with raping three women — all former members of the Church of Scientology, to which Masterson still belongs — at his Hollywood Hills home from 2001 to 2003. Masterson did not take the stand in the retrial, and his defense attorneys declined to call any witnesses. Read more here. |

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's 29-year-old daughter, Tallulah, opened up in a moving essay for Vogue about how she first knew something was wrong with her father. "It started out with a kind of vague unresponsiveness, which the family chalked up to Hollywood hearing loss: 'Speak up! 'Die Hard' messed with Dad's ears,'" she wrote. "Later that unresponsiveness broadened, and I sometimes took it personally." Willis, 68, has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Tallulah also wrote about how she was in denial about her father's declining health in recent years due to her own struggles with anorexia and ADHD. Her recovery has now helped her relationship with her dad. "I can bring him an energy that's bright and sunny, no matter where I've been," she wrote. Read more. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
Even raccoons run on Dunkin'. The Ben Affleck of the critter world was recently spotted picking up his order at a Dunkin' in Florida. A TikTok video shows the furry donut-lover sauntering up to the drive-thru like a regular before a Dunkin' worker reaches out with a vanilla-frosted donut. The raccoon carefully grabs it and scuttles to a nearby bush to eat in peace. Then it's off to another day of knocking over garbage cans. Watch the video here. |
