David DePape, 42, who is accused of brutally attacking the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, told police officers at the scene that he was on "a suicide mission" and had additional targets, according to court documents filed yesterday. DePape pleaded not guilty to multiple charges in state court yesterday. "I didn't really want to hurt him, but you know this was a suicide mission. I'm not going to stand here and do nothing even if it cost me my life," DePape said, according to a filing by prosecutors. DePape also named several "prominent" state and federal politicians and other potential targets for an attack, according to the filing. Here's the latest. |

A Uvalde mom whose 10-year-old daughter was killed in the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School said the school district called her last month to complain about her surviving 11-year-old daughter's outfit at school. "One thing we're not going to do is dress code my 11-year-old for some ripped jeans," Kimberly Mata-Rubio tweeted. "UCISD, focus on school security. Maybe, if you had, my daughter, her little sister would still be alive." Mata-Rubio's daughter Lexi was shot and killed in her fourth grade classroom along with 20 others last May. TODAY Parents reached out to the Uvalde school district for comment but did not hear back. |

The actor opened up about the early symptoms she noticed ahead of being diagnosed with MS, a neurological condition that disrupts communication between the brain and body, while filming the first season of the Netflix show "Dead to Me." Applegate remembered feeling off balance in a dance scene, and struggling while playing tennis. "I wish I had paid attention," she told The New York Times. "But who was I to know?" The 50-year-old returned to film the show's final season this year after it stopped production for five months. "There was the sense of, 'Well, let's get her some medicine so she can get better,'" she said. "And there is no better. But it was good for me." See more of her comments here. |

It's a simple thing you can do when it comes to helping you stay motivated in a walking routine — throw on the headphones and turn up the music. Studies have shown that listening to uptempo music can help people exercise for a longer period of time, leading to more calories burned. "When you're walking to a higher beat-per-minute song, you're going walk faster and with a little bit more power," TODAY fitness contributor Stephanie Mansour told us. She recommends choosing a song with 150 to 160 beats per minute to get your heart pumping for a run, while 125 to 135 is more of a power walk. Also, make sure to check out our new TODAY walking routine for November. |

Just because Halloween is over, it doesn't mean pumpkin season is done! Enjoy some fall comfort food by making roasted pumpkin ramen from chef Danny Bowien. Danny recommends cutting the pumpkin (or squash) in half, scraping out the seeds and roasting it cut-side down, which provides a richness to go with the charred red chili paste on top that adds some Korean flavor. |

It's beginning to feel at least a little bit like Christmas. Rockefeller Center yesterday gave a glimpse at this year's Christmas tree to get everybody in the holiday spirit. The 82-foot-tall Norway Spruce hasn't gotten dressed up yet, but it will officially be lit at the annual ceremony on Nov. 30. The giant Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center has been a tradition since 1933. This year's edition will arrive in Manhattan from its current home in Queensbury, New York, on Nov. 12, and it will be decorated with 50,000 multicolored LED lights. We can't wait! |
