The U.S. Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act with a 51-50 vote yesterday, with all Democrats voting yes and all Republicans voting no. The legislation is a wide-ranging climate and economic package that includes $430 billion to combat climate change and extend health care coverage. The bill now heads to the House of Representatives, which plans to vote to pass it on Friday and send it to President Biden's desk to be signed into law. |

A spokesperson for actor Anne Heche told TODAY over the weekend that she is in stable condition after she was hospitalized in a dramatic car crash. Heche, 53, was involved in the fiery crash on Aug. 5 in which police said she drove her Mini Cooper into a home in the Mar Vista neighborhood in Los Angeles, sparking a "heavy fire" and requiring firefighters to pull her from the car. Many of her fellow actors took to social media yesterday to express their support for Heche. An LAPD investigation of the incident is ongoing, and the tenants of the home she crashed into were unhurt. |

Britney Spears responded to comments made by ex-husband Kevin Federline about her relationship with their two sons, Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15. Federline said the boys "have decided they are not seeing her right now" and that they did not attend her wedding to Sam Asghari in June. Federline added that the fallout stems from photos she's posted on Instagram, saying "it's been tough." Spears responded on Instagram that it "saddens" her to hear the comments, adding "I gave them everything. Only one word: HURTFUL." See her full response here. |

Brandy Bottone now officially has her extra passenger for the carpool lane. The Texas woman who went viral for fighting a traffic ticket by arguing that her unborn child should count as a second rider in the HOV lane gave birth to her baby on Saturday. "My second passenger has arrived," she wrote on Instagram. "We are so in love and will be spending all our time loving on baby girl." Bottone is still fighting the $275 ticket she received in June, which came shortly after the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling on abortion was overturned by the Supreme Court. |
