TODAY One Small Thing
Every year, Pantone names a color it feels captures the moment and, this year, it's a color that studies have shown to promote peaceful feelings: blue.

Blue tones had a more soothing effect on people, especially when it was part of their surrounding environments, a recent study found. Those who had the opportunity look at blue landscapes, such as the sea, on a regular basis registered lower levels of stress. One surprise was that the positive effect of green spaces did not appear to be as strong as blue.

"It's kind of intuitive that you spend time gazing out at the water and it's relaxing," one researchers told TODAY. Find out which shade is this year's winner and more about what kinds of blue could help your mental well-being below.
