Women lose lots of hair every day and that can be a normal part of the body's renewal process. For some women, seeing clumps of hair or a lot more fall out than usual can be frustrating or even alarming. According to the American Hair Loss Association, 40% of people with hair loss in the U.S. are women and they lose more on a daily basis than you might think.

"On average, women lose 100 hairs per day; some people lose more and other less," one doctor said.

Eating a well-balanced diet and keeping your stress levels in check can help reduce excess hair loss and some over-the-counter products can be used to treat the causes, too. Read more about what normal and excessive hair loss looks like and some options if you start to see more strands coming out.
