May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month, with doctors warning the condition can affect men and women of all ages and races. TV personality Maria Menounos was one of the people diagnosed, urging others to be aware of the symptoms after her experience with a golf ball-sized growth in her brain.

One big warning sign not to ignore in a previously healthy person is headaches that are getting worse, especially when associated with nausea and vomiting. That suggests there's elevated pressure inside the skull, which could indicate there's something growing in the brain.
