Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. "Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude," the civil rights leader once said.

Forgiveness is not for the other person -- it is a gift for yourself, advises psychologist Elizabeth Lombardo. When you're in a state of resentment, hate and anger, you can't live your best life. She recommends telling yourself, "I can't change what happened, I can't change the past. But I can change the present and the future, and I choose to do that."
