To suppress hunger when you fast, be strategic about what you consume during your eating window. Opt for high-fiber foods, such as nuts, beans, fruits and vegetables, and high-protein foods, including meat, fish, tofu or nuts, advised Krista Varady, an associate professor of nutrition at the University of Illinois, Chicago, who has been studying fasting for 12 years.
