Thinking about trying intermittent fasting ahead of the big holiday eating season? The plans can be easy to follow and some don't require any calorie counting.

To suppress hunger when you fast, be strategic about what you consume during your eating window. Opt for high-fiber foods, such as nuts, beans, fruits and vegetables, and high-protein foods, including meat, fish, tofu or nuts, advised Krista Varady, an associate professor of nutrition at the University of Illinois, Chicago, who has been studying fasting for 12 years. Chewing high-fiber gummies can also help.
