I'll admit this right here and now: I love weddings. Getting dressed up, hearing tearful proclamations of love, dancing to "Shout" in a sweaty mess of people … it's all great to me! But even a wedding lover like myself can admit that the celebration (and costly extras) can sometimes get out of hand. Let's not forget what weddings are really about.
Ariel Desiree McRae certainly hasn't. The newlywed recently posted to Facebook to defend her $130 engagement ring when a store employee had the nerve to call it "pathetic." Since when does the size of a diamond equate the size of a couple's love? TODAY readers were quick to support McRae and her new husband. Many shared their own love stories and ring photos to emphasize just how little size matters.
As we head into the festive season, with mass consumption and presents galore, I found it a nice reminder to cherish the real gifts in life: family, friends and a strong support network.
