There are many filter pitchers on the market, but the LifeStraw is unique. According to the brand, it's the only one that removes bacteria and parasites from your water — in addition to microplastics, PFAS, lead and other contaminants. To do this, it uses both a "membrane microfilter" and an "activated carbon + ion exchange filter," which last around one year and two months, respectively, before needing replacement. The intense filtration is LifeStraw's calling card: The company also makes camping favorites such as personal straw filters that the brand claims can be used to drink directly from lakes and streams! I live in New York, though, where the tap water is exceedingly safe to drink. So why use a filter? Answer: The taste! I swear, the water tastes crisper, cleaner and more refreshing. It helps that you can store (the surprisingly attractive) pitcher in the fridge for a chilled drink on demand. It even comes in multiple colors and sizes! I plan on pairing it with a water bottle (LifeStraw branded or otherwise), for on-the-go drinking. Here's to a happy, healthy and hydrated new year! |
