Ever feel like you can't silence that negative voice in your head telling you that you're too much? Too out of shape, too stupid, too clumsy ... you get the idea. Monica Lewinsky stopped by TODAY this week to share her strategies for putting those nagging, negative voices on pause and letting more joy into our lives. Plus, we have the best recipe to usher in the weekend and it combines two of our favorite things: pasta and garlic. We hope you love it as much as we do!

Cafe Spaghetti is one of our favorite NYC pasta joints where simple ingredients are spun into incredible dishes like these addictive garlicky noodles. The textural contrast between the unctuous sauce, chewy pasta and crispy breadcrumbs make this simple pasta a true standout. Our registered dietitian paired it with sautéed shrimp and a salad for a balanced meal. Best of all, it's easy, elegant and quick enough to throw together for a busy Friday night or last-minute dinner guests. Let's get this weekend party started.

Use the three Rs to redirect negative thoughts |
This week, anti-bullying advocate Monica Lewinsky joined TODAY to talk about the type of bullying we've all participated in: bullying ourselves. We'll never fully eradicate that negative voice in our heads, but we can shift it, she says. Lewinsky shared a technique she uses to redirect negative thoughts called the three Rs:
-Recognize that you're saying negative things to yourself. -Reflect on whether you'd say these negative things to someone you loved. -Refocus negative thoughts aren't serving you in some way.
Lewinsky says even a neutral perspective can be an act of gentleness with oneself. So next time your inner dialogue starts to get unnecessarily critical, practice the three Rs to make more room for the good thoughts — and good things in life. |
