From time to time, everyone craves something sweet. Sadly, added sugars aren't a great addition to your diet. But is dark chocolate good for you? The slightly sweet, slightly bitter snack is often touted as having lots of health benefits, but are there any truth to these claims?
We have good news for chocolate lovers.
"As a nutritionist, I'm happy to tell you dark chocolate can be part of a healthy diet — in moderation, of course," says registered dietitian. Keri Glassman. "Too much of anything can certainly outweigh the benefits. But there is quite a bit of evidence that chocolate that is mostly cacao can boost your health in a variety of ways, when paired with a healthy lifestyle."
One way that the sweet treat boosts our health: It contributes to producing the feel-good hormone serotonin and contains magnesium, which is linked to reducing anxiety.
