Well, it is a stealth fighter after all. Military officials in South Carolina can't find a missing fighter jet and have asked the public to help locate it following a "mishap" yesterday afternoon. The F-35B Lightning II jet went missing after the pilot ejected somewhere over South Carolina. Joint Base Charleston officials have asked the public to "cooperate with military and civilian authorities" in an effort to locate the plane. South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace spoke for us all when she asked in a social media post: "How in the hell do you lose an F-35?" As it turns out, the jet's transponder, which helps locate the aircraft, was not working, The Washington Post reported. The jet was in autopilot mode when the pilot ejected, so there's a possibility it could still be airborne, a spokesman told NBC News. Here's the latest. |

Drew Barrymore announced yesterday on Instagram that she will not be bringing back her talk show amid the writers' strike, after having previously announced the show would be returning. "I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show's premiere until the strike is over," she wrote. "I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today." Barrymore faced backlash from fans and members of the Writers Guild of America, which has been on strike since May. She also was dropped as host of the National Book Awards, and writers had begun picketing outside her show. Read more. |

A new study in which researchers investigated a poisoning case involving a toddler and his mother's diet pills found some disturbing issues regarding a weight loss supplement. The study's authors tested 10 products claiming to contain tejocote root, an ingredient marketed on the internet for weight loss. They found that nine out of the 10 products didn't contain tejocote root and instead contained 100% yellow oleander, which is a toxic substance. Symptoms of yellow oleander ingestion can include nausea, vomiting and changes in heart rate, according to the FDA. Read more here. |

Gold is great when it's in the bank or draped around your neck at the Olympics, but is it helpful when it's infused in your skin care products? We asked a pair of dermatologists for their take on the #goldskincare trend. "Gold works in skin care to help reduce inflammation and has both antibacterial and antioxidant benefits," dermatologist Dr. Marisa Garshick told us. However, if you have sensitive skin or a gold allergy (yes, that's a thing), doctors advise to steer clear of serums, eye masks or face masks infused with gold particles. The dermatologists also warned about pairing it with certain ingredients in other products, including retinol. If you're looking to add some gold products to your routine, our Shop TODAY team has 3 you can try. |
