Ukraine announced Sunday it has retaken control of the eastern city of Lyman, days after Russian President Vladimir Putin said the area would remain under his nation's control forever. "Lyman is cleared fully," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, following an announcement from Russia's Defense Ministry that it was pulling soldiers to more favorable positions. Genevieve Traversy still cries thinking about the moment her adopted daughter, Amaris, was sitting on a stage with her preschool classmates and noticed her new mom in the crowd. The toddler pointed at Genevieve and mouthed the words "my mommy," which Genevieve captured in a heart-swelling video that has gone viral on TikTok. Amaris, now 5, was just 18 months old when she was placed with Genevieve, her husband and their four children. Amaris had a lot of fears at first, but that heartwarming scene at preschool was a breakthrough. "I felt like that was the moment she realized I wasn't going anywhere," Genevieve told us. |
